Edelman Arts proudly presents “The Art of Translation,” an exhibition of major new works by genre‐busting painter Doug Argue.
Little Sorrows, 2013
We are delighted to announce The Art of Translation, a solo exhibition by Doug Argue on view at Edelman Arts from February 21st to March 30th, 2013. The show features paintings completed between 2012 – 2013 by Argue, who has been represented by Edelman Arts for the past three years, and whose career is in a moment of blossom. These artworks are monumental and vibrant, and represent a totally new view of abstraction. Argue is best known for his large-scale abstract paintings that incorporate text, as he equates letters, numbers and symbols to atoms. Drawing from such sources as The Book of Genesis and Moby Dick, Argue rearranges the characters on the canvas, stretching and contorting them to construct new meaning from found writing.
